The construction unemployment rate in New York State rose slightly from 3.5% in May to 3.8% in June, continuing a fairly steady rate since 3.7% in April.Ā Ā

ā€œNew York has not regained the construction jobs it lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic.ā€ Said ABC Empire State Chapter President Brian Sampson.Ā Much of that can be attributed to the continued high costĀ of construction,Ā which can be addressed by implementing our affordability agenda. That includes stopping the widespread use of project labor agreements, expansion of prevailing wage laws to private projects, and the outdated and expensive Scaffold Law have artificially inflated prices. These policies have driven up housing costs, increased energy expenses, and placed an enormous burden on taxpayers.ā€
