Workers Compensation Program

The ABC Compensation Trust has been carefully designed with competitive advantages that are reducing the workers compensation costs of safety conscious merit shop contractors.

The Trust has regulatory approval to establish our own rates based on our group's favorable claims experience. This results in lower upfront premiums not subject to NYS compensation increases.
The Trust is not subject to the 13.6% NY premium assessment. Our assessment is based on indemnity (wages) payments.
Members benefit from investment income earned on claims’ reserves, premiums, dividends and surplus.
Our unique "split dividend" program provides for dividend payments on both a group and individual member basis.
Other benefits include construction specific safety services, monthly payment plans, and aggressive claims administration.

The majority of construction rates and the NYS Assessment have increased since 1997. Over 300 safety conscious merit shop contractors and suppliers have joined the Trust and avoided these rising costs.

ABC Workers' Compensation Trust in Good Standing

We are pleased to report that the ABC Trust is considered to be one of the top workers' compensation programs available for contractors in New York State. The NY Workers' Compensation Board continues to list the funding status of the ABC Trust as being properly funded. In fact, we have been informed by a state regulator that the ABC Trust has "one of the strongest financial statements in the entire trust industry."

Since our inception in 1997, we have adhered to strict underwriting criteria, enrolling only contractors who display a strong commitment to providing a safe work place. This has allowed the Trust to offer members a substantial reduction in annual workers' compensation premiums. We currently have over 375 safety conscious contractors enrolled.
