Associated Builders and Contractors Applauds Court’s Injunction Against ‘Blacklisting’ Rule

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), Empire State Chapter today applauded the Monday night ruling by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, granting a preliminary injunction against the Obama administration’s Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces rule, commonly referred to as “blacklisting”.  The preliminary injunction prevents the Federal Acquisition Regulatory (FAR) Council from implementing the rule, which was scheduled to go into effect on Oct. 25. Webinar: Preparing for the Overtime Final Rule

Representatives from the Wage and Hour Division will cover the basics of the U.S. Department of Labor’s final rule updating the overtime regulations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), highlight resources and guidance available for employers, and answer compliance assistance questions on Monday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. While the session will include the opportunity to submit questions during the presentation’s Q&A segment, participants are also encouraged to submit questions in advance to WHDNOComm@dol.gov. Associated Builders and Contractors Files Suit Against ‘Blacklisting’ Rule

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and its ABC Southeast Texas Chapter announced today that they have filed a lawsuit challenging the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces final rule, commonly referred to as the “blacklisting” rule, which was released Aug. 25, 2016. The legal challenge was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Beaumont Division, by the Texas office of Littler Mendelson, P.C., ABC National’s general counsel. The firm will represent ABC, the ABC Southeast Texas Chapter and the National Association of Security Companies (NASCO) in the lawsuit. Read the rest of entry »

Associated Builders and Contractors Applauds Passage of House Bill to Delay Overtime Rule

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today applauded the U.S. House of Representatives passage of legislation that would delay implementation of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Division’s costly and burdensome final overtime rule. The bill, the Regulatory Relief for Small Businesses, Schools, and Nonprofits Act (H.R. 6094), passed the House with bipartisan support by a vote of 246-177 on Sept. 28.
