Overall, we had a successful election cycle, with 80% of our endorsed candidates coming out victorious.

Here is a highlight of some important races from across the state along with a breakdown of how our endorsed candidates performed:

Albany County: Dan McCoy (D) easily won re-election for another term as county executive. Incumbent Colonie Supervisor Paula Mahan defeated Republican challenger Christine Benedict, however, the town board now features a more partisan split with three Republicans and three Democrats.

Broome County:
In 2016 Republicans will have a 4-3 majority on the Binghamton City Council. This is the first time in many years that the Republican party holds control of the mayor’s office and city council.

Dutchess County:
Marc Molinaro (R) easily won re-election for another term as county executive. The Republicans held the county legislature. Republican Rob Rolison won Poughkeepsie Mayor.

Erie County:
Mark Poloncarz won a second term as county executive in Erie County, beating Ray Walter 65% to 34%. The Republicans continue control of the county Legislature with a one-vote majority.

Monroe County:
As expected, Republican Cheryl Dinolfo won a comfortable victory for Monroe County Executive. Republicans hold the legislature and District Attorney.

Nassau County:
All incumbents won re-election, with Republicans maintaining control of the county legislature. Democrat Madeline Singas won the race for Nassau County District Attorney; the county executive seat was no up this year.  

Onondaga County:
Republican Joanie Mahoney easily sailed to reelection as county executive. All 17 county legislators were re-elected and control remains in Republican hands.

Schoharie County:
ABC member Chris Tague (R) won the race for Schoharie Town Supervisor.

Suffolk County:
Democrats hold on the supermajority in the county legislature is up in the air as the race in the 6th district is too close to call. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone (D) won re-election.

Westchester County:
Republicans won three battleground district in the race for control of the county Legislature.
