We are always reviewing publicly funded projects that are put out to bid. This was the case when we came across the Western New York Science and Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP) project. In an effort to educate the stakeholders in the project on the perils of PLA's, we wrote a letter to Genesee County Economic Development Center President & CEO Steven Hyde. In the letter, we outlined how PLA's restrict competition, increase costs, and place merit shop contractors at a significant disadvantage. We were extremely pleased to receive communication from Mr. Hyde indicating that they have no plans on mandating a PLA on this project, which is great news for our members and great news for taxpayers.
